Development projects

In 2008 the Town Centre Action Group decided on six projects to help enliven the High Street. To read more about these six projects click on the images below, or use the sub menus at the top of the page. We hope you find this information of interest, and we'd love to hear from you if you have any thoughts on the projects or if you have ideas for new projects - we've included a feedback form on each page.

1: Yiewsley Piazza

In 2008 Yiewsley was deemed the UK's most recession-affected high street by the British Property Foundation. For some time the Town Centre Action Group had been working with partners to uplift the central shopping area of Yiewsley to create a really attractive place. Progresss

2: West Drayton Piazza

As well as the Yiewsley Piazza TCAG wanted to smarten the public spaces in West Drayton including the development of the area opposite Swan Road, so that restaurants had the space to offer al fresco dining.

4: Yiewsley Canal bridge

As part of the initiative to develop the canal TCAG wanted to make the canal more visible from street level. We challenged Hillingdon Borough Council to help find a solution and help improve the surrounding area and help attract new shops. The Council's iconic response has a real wow factor.

5: West Drayton Rail bridge

The rail bridge is an important link between Yiewsley and West Drayton. But its not great at the moment, Read about Hillingdon Borough Council's partnership with Network Rail to make the West Drayton rail bridge a better place.

6: West Drayton Train Station

Our train station was the first stop in Brunel's historic London to Bristol railway.
It is a key public space that unites those that live, work and play here. It is a unique opportunity - here is the plan to make it amazing.
