The grand union canal provides an idlylic link to central London by waterway.
The canal is a living emblem of times past, when stock was transported to and from london through Yiewsley, and was the principle transport route for bricks from the local brickworks to London and .
The canal towpath
The towpath leads north from the high street at Yiewsley, past the new developments and on to Little Britain (above right), through Cowley and on to Uxbridge, and eventually to Birmingham. Alternatively, at Little Britain you can take the Slough arm of the canal and on past Iver to
Canalboats regularly pass from Paddington/Regents Park or via the Thames at Brentford. and West Drayton's past.
